Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is WatchSnap?

WatchSnap uses advanced AI to identify watches. Accuracy depends on photo quality, lighting, and how much of the watch is visible. It's strongest on mainstream and luxury brands; obscure vintage pieces and near-identical smartwatch generations are harder. When the AI isn't confident, it tells you rather than guessing.

Is the value a real appraisal?

No. WatchSnap shows a market range for reference — drawn from researched sold prices and live eBay listings — not a formal appraisal and not a guarantee of authenticity. Think of it as a well-informed ballpark, not a valuation certificate.

Does WatchSnap check if a watch is real?

No. WatchSnap identifies what a watch presents as and estimates market value. It does not authenticate watches or detect counterfeits — photo-based fake detection isn't reliable, so we don't claim it. For a real purchase decision, use a trusted dealer or professional authenticator.

What do I get for free, and what's the subscription?

You get a few identifications free, no account needed. WatchSnap Unlimited unlocks unlimited identifications and market value lookups for $9.99/month or $39.99/year. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

Why can't WatchSnap identify my photo?

WatchSnap works best with clear, well-lit photos where the dial and case are visible. If the watch is too small, blurry, angled, or glare-obscured, identification may fail. Try again with the watch centered and the dial readable.

How do I restore my subscription on a new device?

Open WatchSnap, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you subscribed with. Your WatchSnap Unlimited access will sync across your devices.

What happens to my photos?

Your photos stay on your device. WatchSnap sends only the photo being identified to our AI provider, and it isn't stored after identification. Value lookups send only the watch's brand, model, and reference text — never your photo.

Can I use WatchSnap offline?

Identification and value lookups require an internet connection. Your scan history and collection are stored locally and accessible offline.
